Investigation of actual parents counseling education conditions and education needs in playtherapist curriculum

Abstract
The aims of this study is that investigating the actual educational conditions of parents counseling within academic courses and training programs of graduate schools and association to foster develop therapists. This study also investigates how the play therapists - who are carrying out play therapy in the field - recognize about parents counseling and their needs of it. There are 30 graduate schools and 5 societies are included in this study that are developing the play therapists; and investigated the conditions of educational courses and training program of parents counseling. Moreover, we conducted a survey targeting the play therapists in various regions that the perception and educational needs of parents counseling; and we analyzed 337 surveys. This surveys were referred other surveys that are used in other studies: and we revised and updated it based on preliminary investigations. The surveys, according to analysis purposes, applied and implemented basic statistics and frequency analysis with SPSS 18.0 program, and free-answer items were implemented with content analysis. According to the result, it is insufficient that educational programs or curriculums for parents counseling in graduate schools and associations. and the programs being implemented could not be practical help in the field. It shows that we should increase the classes of parents counseling theory and practice. and that the educational system also need to be strengthened.
